Bluetooth is an inexpensive, low-power, short-range wireless technology that connects low-bandwidth wireless peripherals to computers and to each other. Bluetooth is a replacement for infrared communication standards such as IrDA and is a complementary technology to AirPort, Apple's wireless networking solution. Developers can design Bluetooth devices that work well with Apple systems and can use Mac OS X APIs to communicate with Bluetooth devices and to present a consistent user interface to Bluetooth services.
